Entrée is a fresh spin on the old dinner-and-a-movie date night that celebrates the arts. Hosted by concretecakes.com and Common Ground Management, this event series brings together independent films, culinary arts, live music, visual arts, and great people. This month’s installment is themed, Concrete Jungle and will feature local filmmaker, Jamal Hill, as well as celebrated artist and Philly 360 Creative Ambassador Serena Saunders. So come out and immerse yourself in the arts in a cool new way.

Last week, Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter revealed that he's putting together a two-day music festival happening only in Philly over Labor Day Weekend.
Jay-Z is curating the talent roster for the festival aka "Made In America" which will take over Philadelphia's Benjamin Franklin Parkway with 28 acts and three stages on September 1 - 2, 2012.

We mentioned that as part of The Roots Mural Project, there will be events aka The Roots 101 Series taking place leading up to the mural dedication in October. Well, here's one of the events - and it's one you won't want to miss.
The Roots 101 Series is bringing dream hampton (writer, director, Emmy Award-winning producer, activist), Fab 5 Freddy (artist, t.v. personality, hip hop storyteller and legend-keeper), Leonard "Hub" Hubbard (bassist, former member of The Roots), and Tiffany Bacon (radio personality, Philly music connoisseur) together on Saturday, May 19, to discuss the relevance and influence of The Roots in hip hop and modern music.
DJ Statik aka Sonny James of the Illvibe Collective will be spinning as well.

It's about to seriously go down musically in Philly.
Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z announced today that he will be putting together a music festival that will take over Philadelphia's Benjamin Franklin Parkway for two days - September 1-2, 2012.
Today, Jay-Z joined Mayor Michael Nutter, along with representatives from Anheuser-Busch and United Way, at the Philadelphia Museum of Art to officially announce Jay-Z's music festival aka "Budweiser Made in America” which will benefit United Way and will be produced by Live Nation.
Jay-Z spoke on why he chose Philly as the location to launch his festival. He said, "Everyone knows my love affair with Philly." He went on to talk about some of his other ties to to the city. Jay-Z mentioned that he's been working with Will Smith and James Lassiter at Overbrook Entertainment to produce major motion pictures, and he brought up his signed hip-hop artist, Philly's own Freeway.
For two days, there will be 28 acts on three stages along the Parkway. Jay-Z says that they have about 70% of the talent confirmed. The lineup will be announced May 21. We can expect major talent ranging from rock, hip-hop, R&B, Latin and dance.
We can't wait to see what Jay-Z has in store for us. As Jay-Z said today, "It's gonna be a great day in Philly."

Some say she has a passion for pumps or a thrill for heels, but the world according to Beth Shark is sole fantasy turned reality. Beth Shark owns approximately 1,200 pairs of designer shoes, 700 of which are by designer Christian Louboutin, among numerous other custom made pairs. After years of collecting flats, heels, and everything in between, she is set to launch her all-inclusive website Shoes R. Forever.
On Wednesday, Shak is inviting fellow fashionistas to PNK Elephant to help launch her website. And, before you can click your heels three times, there is more. Free cocktails and appetizers will be served to guests at the Shoes R Forever launch party. Also, production crews will be filming the event for an upcoming reality show featuring the shoe expert and FOX 29’s Jennaphr Frederick.

Philly 360° Creative Ambassador Tatyana Fazlalizadeh is definitely one of the dopest visual artists in town. So, it's no surprise she was selected to be one of the contributor to The Roots Mural Project, celebrating the creatve contributions of The Legendary Roots Crew.
On April 27, you can join Tatyana and Mural Arts for a curated exhibition of her work at their new space in the South Street Headhouse District. In addition to her work representing the disenfranchised members of society, Tatyana has developed a series of pop, cultural, and political illustrations of icons like President Barack Obama, Questlove, Janelle Monáe, Kanye West, Zora Neale Hurston, and more.
Our very own AfroDJiak will be spinng. And, Mural Arts is providing food, drinks, and an artist meet-and-greet for this event showcasing some of Philly's best.

PHILADANCO's spring performance featurs the world premiere of a newly commissioned ballet, Wake Up, by Philly-native hip hop choreographer Rennie Harris and a revival of the 2000 ballet titled Tribute, which salutes the music produced by Philadelphia International Records founders, Gamble & Huff.

The inaugural season of Roger Lee Dance kicks off with three performances at The Performance Garage. The performances combine contemporary jazz dance with soul music to create a memorable, uplifting and entertaining experience for audiences of all ages.
